Kovács Dávid - Nemzetfelfogás and történelemszemlélet a 20. századi Magyarországon (2018)

The studies on the history of ideas in the book examine the thoughts of the political-spiritual trends that played a significant role in Hungarian history in the 20th century, as well as the thoughts of their leading representatives and authors about the nature of the nation, i.e. the perception of the nation, as well as the interpretations of the national past that cannot be separated from this. The writings of Ervin Szabó, Oszkár Jászi, Dezső Szabó, Gyula Szekfű, Bálint Hóman, Kunó Klebelsberg, József Révai, among others, reconstruct and present the ideas related to the topic. The articles included in the volume were written in recent years, most of them had already been published in various journals and multi-author study volumes. What justified their publication in a separate book is that the central issue of each article is the relationship between national identity, national ideals and the image of the past, that is, the view of history. I hope that the studies organized into separate volumes - in addition to the ideas carried by themselves - will also open a new horizon of interpretation for the other writings, thus helping the reader to develop a more comprehensive picture of the subject.
