Karinthy Frigyes - Travel a koponyám körül (2003)

The novel is about personal experiences: the author describes the circumstances of his own brain surgery. His art elevates the operation and the history of the disease into a universal human experience. In the writer's favorite coffee house, he hears the rumble of a train and hallucinates. This is followed by a headache and fainting, but neither he nor his doctors think it's a serious problem. Friendly conversations, a movie experience and a clinic visit together with his wife awaken his suspicion: he has a brain tumor...
