Thirteen-year-old John Finney was in danger. For two years now, someone has been hunting the boys in Galesburg, kidnapping them, and they are never seen again. And now Finney appears to be joining them: his psychopathic captor has locked him in a basement stained with the blood of half a dozen murdered children. In addition to it, there is also an ancient telephone in the room, which has not been connected to the network for quite some time, but it still rings at night, and the killer's previous victims answer the receiver. And they will do everything to prevent Finney from suffering their fate.

The short story The Black Telephone is just one of the fifteen stories with which Joe Hill proved that he has a special talent for writing creepy stories. Over the years, a number of movies or series have been made from his works (Szarvak, NOS4A2), Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange) shot a movie from Black Phone with Ethan Hawke in the main role, which was also shown in Hungary in 2022.
