Janne Teller - Nothing

Product description
"Nothing makes sense, I've known that for a long time. Therefore, there is nothing worth doing. I just realized that.” With these words Pierre leaves the classroom one day. His classmates therefore decide to prove the opposite to their nihilistic comrade. The plan is to collect everything that makes sense in an old barn. But at first only a headless toy doll, a book of psalms, old photographs and withered rose petals are collected. Therefore, the students come up with the idea that everyone has to give something that is especially important to them. Ole's boxing gloves, Hans's brand new bicycle, Hussain's prayer mat. The greater the sacrifice, the greater the meaning.
What starts as a harmless game soon becomes uncontrollable: Rikke-Ursula has to get rid of her pigtails, Gerda has to get rid of her hamster. The two of them come up with even more cruel demands: Anna-Linek's adoption certificate, little Emil's coffin, a dog's corpse and a statue of Jesus also end up on the "Mountain of Reason", the "Pile of Important Things". The events only really get wild when Sofie has to sacrifice her innocence, and the talented guitarist Jan-Johan has to sacrifice his finger. That's when the parents and the police intervene.
Only Pierre remains phlegm. He ridicules teenagers who are capable of such sacrifices just to find the meaning of life. For this, he has to pay a heavy price: the other children take cruel revenge.
