Born into a well-known but poor family, Fanny Price is sent by her mother to live with her wealthy relatives in Mansfield Park. Mansfield Castle is the home of Sir Thomas Bertram, where he lives with his wife and four children. The family accepts the girl, but never treats her as an equal.
Breaking away from her parents' home is a deep break in Fanny's life, and her situation - especially in the early days - is not made too easy by the two spoiled Bertram girls either. But in one of the boys, Edmund, she soon finds an understanding companion, and their friendship eventually turns into love.
Over the years, not only Fanny goes through the school of emotions, but also her four young relatives and the beautiful Crawford brothers and sisters who play such a significant role in their fate, who with their attractive manners and appearance thoroughly turn the family's everyday life upside down and shatter the conservative value system.
The work, whose main and secondary characters are both memorable, nuanced characters, is made even more enjoyable by Austen's characteristic irony.
