True story inspired by Netflix's Red Sea Diving Paradise!
In the early 1980s, a new luxury resort opened its doors in a deserted corner of the Sudanese coast. Divers flocked from all over the world, unaware that the crew was actually made up of embedded agents working for the Mossad, Israel's secret service.
The resort village provided an excellent cover for their covert operations, which were part of an unprecedented operation. In the process, thousands of Ethiopian Jews languishing in refugee camps were smuggled out of the country and resettled in Israel.
The complete, never-before-told, captivating story of this top-secret and often extremely dangerous operation in the Red Sea diving paradise. The faithful interpretation of the events is guaranteed by the cooperation of the agents participating in the mission, as well as the name of the former Mossad director, Efraim Halévi, who wrote the book's afterword.
"The faithful telling of the true story of the nearly decade-long Mossad operation aimed at evacuating Ethiopian Jews from Sudan has fallen into worthy hands. Raffi Berg deserves recognition, because thanks to his tireless research work, the general public can get to know key moments that have been kept secret until now."
Efraim Halévi, head of the Mossad between 1998 and 2002
"With a herculean effort, Raffi Berg shaped this very complex and diverse story into an authentic, thoroughly documented, yet exciting and passionate read."
