The RealSense Tracking Camera T265 provides spatial vision, can be positioned anywhere, and does not require a separate image processing system.

Intel has been developing RealSense cameras for a long time, and its latest solution will be widely available. We are introduced to a tool that can provide good opportunities in many areas of application where the goal is to create automated structures - even on a very small scale.

The RealSense Tracking Camera T265 is based on two cameras spaced a few inches apart. Intel experts used ultra-wide-angle units associated with 163 ± 5-degree optics here. The cameras are based on a sensor developed by OmniVision; the OV9282 is not a standard sensor, it is only 1 megapixel (1/4 inch), but it can operate extremely fast due to its ability to absorb a lot of light (3 microns) and can be expected even in relatively poor visibility conditions. The structure is equipped with a 6DoF motion tracking unit, developed by Bosch, and through its cameras it can solve things that machines equipped with LIDAR and depth sensors cannot, such as analyzing samples on walls, ceilings or floors. you can orient your location in a room.

The device has SLAM (Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) capability, which means that its sensors can simultaneously map the area around it and determine its position even in a completely fresh environment. And a Movidius Myriad 2 visual processor has already been deployed here, which will not only analyze the image seen by the cameras, but will also be intertwined with SLAM, a combination Intel already refers to as V-SLAM. The Movidius VPU is capable of running all the necessary algorithms in real time, so the RealSense Tracking Camera T265 will essentially not require external hardware help, developers just have to decide that the data it provides is properly applied by the connected device. The system operates with a very low latency with extremely defined efficiency, able to respond to environmental changes in just 6 milliseconds.

In Intel's view, the RealSense Tracking Camera T265, which uses augmented reality, will be able to serve really well, especially for drones, where not only localization capability but also advanced spatial vision is highly needed. As a result, both indoors and outdoors, a flying device will be able to avoid obstacles in front of it, thus preventing accidents and protecting its safety. In addition to drones, it will also be deployable in robotics and may have a place in an augmented or virtual reality environment.

The structure was delimited by lines of only 108 x 24.5 x 12.5 millimeters and provided with a standard mounting surface for easy installation in the right place. It will also be available on a USB 2.0 or USB 3.1 interface. And Intel also mentioned that it can be paired with a RealSense Depth Camera D400 on demand, bringing an even more versatile solution under the hat. Lastly, the compact camera system will run at up to 1.5 watts, so you can really do it with outstanding efficiency - a drone, for example, won't have a noticeable reduction in operating time.
