Illyés Gyula - A flying castle - Hungarian folk tales

The fiction work of Gyula Illyés is characterized by diversity, because in addition to his essays, studies, translations, and interviews, he is also well-known for his adaptations of folktales. In the world of folk tales, our favorite writer has always strived for comprehensibility and tried to preserve and pass on the original features, rich language turns, the expressive power and beauty of the Hungarian folk spirit.
In this volume of colorful fairy tales, we have selected stories whose protagonists are kings and princesses as well as simple shepherds, capable heroes beyond Óperencia, and sly, sly girls. What they all have in common, however, is that they are able to win over evil with sophistication, food, and sometimes with miracles, receiving their deserved reward.
We invite our dear readers to the brilliant world of Gyula Illyés' fairy tales, which is made even more colorful by Sándor Zubály's playful illustrations.
