Quite a few books have already been written about Coco Chanel - however, there has always been less talk about the sensitive and still not fully clarified topic of what role she played in German-occupied France. So about the fact that she was the lover of a man belonging to the Nazi state apparatus, and that the French Internal Forces, organized from members of the Resistance, arrested and interrogated her on charges of treason. Created with the sharp eyes of a journalist and the soul of a novelist, the gap-filling Coco in the Ritz transports the reader to this period. The main question of this work of fiction, which is based on extensive research based on actual events, but lacks the letters, notes, diary or interrogation protocol left behind, is: was Coco a collaborator? Gioia Diliberto's virtuoso character drawing gives insight into the mysteries of a female soul and the lability of a personality. In its captivating story, we can trace what the motivation of the opportunistic decisions of Chanel, which revolutionized women's fashion, could have been in the II. during the horrors of World War II, and how these decisions affected his environment and his world-famous artist friends.

GIOIA DILIBERTO is an American writer, author of historical novels, biographies and a play. In her works dedicated to women's destinies, with diverse themes, she successfully combines story-centricity with in-depth analyses. His works have been translated into many languages. He knows everything about Paris: four of his seven books take place in the French capital, as does Coco at the Ritz. As a journalist, he has published in the columns of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times and Vanity Fair, among others. He has taught in higher education institutions and also teaches writing. He lives in Woodbury, Connecticut.

"This fascinating book reveals a side of Chanel's personality that we didn't know before. Highly recommended reading." - Historical Novel Society
