      The anti-inflammatory effect of proazulenes is complemented by antioxidant flavonoids. Essential oil components have a bactericidal effect. triterpene derivatives, flavonoids (quercetin glycosides), carotenoids and saponin. In inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the complex effect of the above substances prevails. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect of flavonoids is strengthened by the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of carotenoids. They promote the healing of the eroded mucous membrane. Following the research of recent years, particular emphasis has been placed on the triterpenes present in the drug.
