Fire Emblem Awakening (3DS)
Product description
Fire Emblem is a Japanese strategy style series with several years of tradition from Inteligent Systems and Nintendo. Owners of Nintendo 3DS consoles can enjoy the new part this year, which comes after five years with a new, never-before-seen story.
Story & characters
The essence of the new Fire Emblem story is that two characters meet, one of which you can create. You can't make it literally, but the range of customization is extremely wide. You can influence the character's appearance, attributes and abilities. Only one thing cannot be changed, your character will wear the dragon symbol on his body.
At the beginning of the story, you and the current prince of the Kingdom of Iris - Chrom (who wears exactly the same symbol on his body as you) meet. The close encounter of the two symbols exerts such power that it awakens the two dragons from their deep sleep, who want to destroy the entire continent with their venom. And that's just the beginning of the problems.
Playability
Against a gigantic enemy, you join Chrom and his team to avert danger and restore order.
The goal is separated by quite a few chapters full of missions. After the animated intro, which introduces you to the story, you find yourself on the game map, which is divided into fields. Each square is actually a move that you can take with your unit in one run.
In this case, it is a strategy-style video game where you take turns with the enemy and you have as much time as you want for each move. When you meet the enemy, you can freely choose which weapon you want to attack them with and the game switches to another mode, in which you can see the animation of the duel.
The quality of maps and missions has a tradition. If you don't believe it, you can try one of the previous parts of the series, or one of the Advance Wars series (for Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS) or Battalion Wars for the console (for Nintendo GameCube and Wii).
New in the series
For the first time, the new Fire Emblem will include a special mode with a lower difficulty level for novice players. This mode is called Casual Mode and the main change compared to the classic version is that the dead characters reappear as alive in the next mission, i.e. playable characters. In the classic mode, the dead stay dead forever.
For the first time in this series, it is possible to play in cooperative multiplayer mode and the popular functions of Nintendo 3DS consoles will be supported: StreetPass and SpotPass.
The biggest novelty is the purchasable download of the expanded content, the English abbreviation of which is DLC. If the number of missions offered by the game owner's story is not enough, it will be possible to download additional missions to extend the game experience. Additional characters are also available. At the same time, if someone does not need the expanded content, do not worry, these expansions are not necessary to play the original story.
Audiovisual jacket
Fire Emblem on Nintendo 3DS will be more mutant than ever before. 3D graphics with stereoscopic 3D representation is just the beginning. The video game appears in a comic cel-shading style with well-done cut-scenes, characterized by darker colors and manga-style characters (designed by Yusuke Kozaki). He took care of the design for both parts of No More Heroes (for Wii).
