Eősze László - Trisztán and Aida - Séták az opera világában

To write about such a complex and versatile genre as opera in an interesting, readable and at the same time professionally demanding way is one of the most difficult and exciting tasks in music history. The author's job is made more difficult by the fact that, on the one hand, he wants to win over to this special musical theater those who have little or no experience with opera, and on the other hand, he wants to offer meaningful reading material to music lovers who already know the genre well. This is what László Eősze, music historian who won the Ferenc Erkel, Bence Szabolcsi and Széchenyi prizes, biographer of Zoltán Kodály, popularizer of the oeuvre of Verdi and Wagner, doyen of Hungarian music history writing, undertook when he published his series of essays in the columns of the Operaylét magazine. Holnap Kiadó has collected a selection of studies on these operas and opera composers, with a professional basis, but with an admittedly subjective approach, in this volume.
