Dwarf Pine essential oil
The unassuming dwarf pine belonging to the family of pines, the class of conifers and the tribe of conifers can be found on any high mountain rocky slope or pasture. Its distribution area extends from Spain to the Balkans, and where it settles, it forms an extremely large, almost impenetrable thicket. It is low-growing, although its branches reach one and a half to two meters, and they grow spread out on the ground. The young branches, the cones and the needles also contain essential oil, the use of which is extremely diverse. Dwarf Pine essential oil has a special, fresh resinous smell, and its essential oil is also used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Needles, branches, bark and fresh shoots also contain different amounts and compositions of oil. While, for example, needles contain 23.8% 3-carene, 22.3% myrcene and 10.3% pinene, needle oil contains 18.6% pinene and 11.3% 3-carene. The oil is extracted using the steam distillation method. The best-known pine needle oil, which is also of the purest quality, is produced from plants found in the Alps. It has been used for centuries in the surrounding countries to cure lung disease. In case of a dry, excruciating cough, the pain was alleviated by rubbing the chest, and it was also used for inhalation. In such cases, 3-4 drops were added to 2 liters of boiling water and that was enough, as its active ingredients are very strong. Evaporating into the air, it cleans and disinfects the air in the room. To this day, it plays an important role in the treatment of sports injuries. It stimulates the metabolic processes by promoting the blood circulation of joints and muscles, causing an abundance of blood and healing with its warming effect. It is considered as a raw material for creams, ointments, relaxers and massage oils. Sprayed into the air is also an excellent choice against burnout and mental fatigue.
