The purpose of the German language graduation exam is to measure communicative language skills, i.e. to determine whether the candidate is able to achieve his or her communication goals. The exam consists of a written and an oral part and measures the four basic language skills (reading and listening comprehension, writing skills and speaking skills) as well as grammatical and lexical competence. The new advanced level English baccalaureate exam corresponds to the B2 language level of the Common European Framework of Reference.
