The idea of ​​national education is simultaneous with the development of the modern national idea. The constantly changing emphases of the latter activate and actualize the concept again and again: the variations and intensity of use of "national education" are tied to changing contexts. Unraveling its meanings can offer keys to a better understanding of contemporary socio-political conditions. This volume deals with three Hungarian paraphrases of national education - the plans of a teacher: Sándor Imre, an education politician: Bálint Hóman and a (party) politician: Gyula Gömbös - whose interpretation and understanding is aided by an overview of similar ideas born in German territories. The juxtaposition of the selected concepts forms a discursive space that not only creates the possibility of comparison and analysis, but also enables the decoding of the deeper structures and connections carried - or hidden - in each interpretation.
