Product description
The Mestermünkak set out to present one contemporary, indispensable, iconic building in the history of Hungarian architecture, accompanied by rich visual material, original drawings and detailed drawings, photos taken during construction, revealing the entire history and afterlife of the given building. The starting piece of our series is the church and educational building complex in Avasi, Miskolc, designed by István Ferencz, winner of the Kossuth and Nemzet Művésze award, which, in addition to domestic accolades, quickly became the focus of international professional attention, and in the fourth year after its completion, it was classified as one of the most significant contemporary buildings in the world. The ensemble in Avasi, which was built for about ten years (1990-2000), was the largest ecclesiastical and educational investment of the nineties. Its central building is an outstanding example of 20th century Hungarian church architecture. The concept that takes the local features into account to a large extent, the attitude that forges virtue even out of limitations, the need for quality, the light and generous architectural attitude, the all-pervasive proportionality, and the individual detailed solutions elevate the Avasi building complex to the most important, summative work of his life, a masterpiece, which from its characteristic features, the essential, dedicated personality of the architect emerges.
