Product description
"As you know, I didn't write the Ady poems, I didn't paint the Márffy pictures, as you know - but I hate to look at the world from such castles - where even in my best hours I'm just a little noble."
Berta Boncza, Csinszka (1894-1934) was a special creature who wanted more than a minor role in her life. Raised in Hungarian and Swiss institutions for girls' education, but rebelling against family and social conventions, the young girl dreamed of an artistic career from the beginning. Corresponded with poets, including Endré Ady, ran the magazine Nyugat, read French and German literature. Fate blessed him with versatile talent, and he tried himself in many fields of art. He learned to draw, wrote poems, short stories, letters with a literary appeal, and was enthusiastic about photography. Her beauty, sensitivity and talent touched and inspired many. She became the wife and muse of Endre Ady, and later of Ödön Márffy, but she was not satisfied with that, she wanted to be an artist "in her own right" and create something lasting. His manuscripts remained in a drawer for a long time, and he first published his poems only in 1931.
The volume Mert a Csodadan nijlaen párja collects all of Csinszka's currently available poems. Compared to his first and last book of poems published in 1931 - by reviewing Csinszka's correspondence, memoirs and contemporary press found in public collections - more and more hitherto unknown texts have been discovered. In this book, we can read the poems, illustrated manuscripts, messages and letters of the student, later wife, muse and poet, together with numerous poems that have not been published to date.
