The heroine of Ágnes Cser Kovács's first book is threatened by a series of losses: she is fired from her job, she tries to accompany her father who is dying of cancer in his last days despite their broken relationship for many years, while her uterus, which has long resembled a medical battlefield, is fighting its umpteenth, perhaps last, battle to keep her conceived embryo alive. The only handhold of the increasingly difficult days are the texts edited and arranged at home. The narrator reveals more and more destinies with each file he opens and brings to work, and the voices of several generations and the narrated life journeys illuminate his own situation in a different way.
