Product description
Are we able to tell the truth about ourselves either to others or to ourselves? Where does the perhaps impossible, but definitely existing need in man come from? Do we really want to tell the truth about ourselves, or are we just hesitantly obeying cultural norms whose origins and intentions we really don't know? What is the relationship of the spoken word of truth to our life, which we believe to be true or want to be true, and to the narrower or broader community of which we are members? Isn't leaving behind the command to speak the truth sometimes a real salvation? Ákos Cseke seeks answers to these questions in his latest book, who attempts to critically examine and revise the late Foucault's analyzes based on the works of Euripides, Sophocles, Plato, Seneca and Cassian, among others, in which the French philosopher truth and truth-telling he presented his religious, ethical and political command and concept.
Michel Foucault was elected a teacher at the Collge de France in 1970, and from then until his death in 1984, he taught at the highly prestigious institution. The transcripts of his lectures during these years, which fundamentally changed our perception of Foucault, were published between 1997 and 2015 in thirteen volumes. True szó, true life is the first summary work in Hungarian on the relevant researches of the late Foucault.
Ákos Cseke is a teacher at Pázmány Péter Catholic University. His latest volume: How much happiness can a person endure? (Kortárs, 2014)
