János Tőzsér's recently published highly successful book, Moments of Truth (Kalligram, 2018), poses a serious challenge to philosophers. Not by chance: the author claimed that philosophy is a failed cognitive enterprise. If we want to act honestly, we must face failure honestly. We need to understand what the nature of philosophical problems is, where the limits of human knowledge lie, and why we cannot get answers to the questions that are troubling us with the tools of philosophy -- no matter how much we want to. At the end of the road, we have only one option left: we must become skeptical.

The authors of our volume have taken up the gauntlet thrown in their faces, each in their own way trying to meet the skeptical challenge. They refute or reconsider Tőssér's vision, shade the depressing diagnosis, and express doubts about the proposed therapy.
