Product description
Counterfeiting was a relatively common crime in the economic situation of the 1920s, and as evidenced by the international counterfeiting Frank counterfeiting scandal, its threads have often reached the top. At the heart of this volume is a hitherto unknown, small-scale crime:
The revealing confession of Elek Bicskey, a teacher born in Vojvodina, in 1928, which ended with his arrest and imprisonment, suggests that he was acting on behalf of the contemporary Hungarian far-right social organization, the Association of Awakening Hungarians. At the same time, the reconstruction of the supposedly failed action to disintegrate the Kingdom of Serbia-Croatia-Slovenia provides an opportunity to get an overview of the ideological, social and political history of the 1920s in the context of a historical drill. The editors of the volume have attempted to explore the broader contexts behind the available source material for individual crime, giving a novel insight into the world of the first decade of the Horthy era, which is only partially consolidating.
The book that forms the antecedent of the research, "Inner Castle": The Diary of Erzsébet Bicskey, a young girl, 1940-1946, published by the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Archives of the Hungarian National Archives, in 2019 in the source publication category in the Archival Publication of the Year received.
