Benkő László - Large Lajos - First kötet - Aranysarkantyús lovagok
Product description
Károly I from the House of Anjou, better known as King Robert Károly of Hungary in the XIV. in the first quarter of the century, he freed the country from the cursed power of the oligarchs at the cost of merciless battles. He created internal order, which brought an economic boom and the country began to prosper. The treasury was full, and the ruler could now focus on the development of the country and the establishment of federal relations. She agreed on a dynastic marriage with her uncle, Róbert the Wise from Naples.
He intended the Hungarian throne for the eldest of his three sons, Lajos, and the crown of the Kingdom of Naples-Sicily for the middle one, Prince András, through his marriage to Princess Johanna. He planned that the brother rulers of the two countries would forge a solid unity that would be able to resist any external power aspirations.
But he did not count on the circumstances that András, the prince who came to Naples as a child, had to face almost immediately. The immoral way of life of the Neapolitan court, the all-pervading intrigue and wealth made András's everyday life miserable, who could only rely on his own court maintenance and bodyguards. However, his enemies did not rest, and the prince began to drift towards his doom.
The first volume of the series presenting the life and age of Lajos, who was crowned as a child after his father's death, presents this period. The planners and beneficiaries of political intrigues appear in it, and it is revealed what methods were used to enforce and destroy agreements made between rulers and confirmed by oath.
Moving towards its dark conclusion, the volume reveals to the Reader the events that later had a serious impact on the reign and wars of Louis the Great.
