Product description
Life can only be understood backwards, but you have to live forwards.
(after Sren Kierkegaard)
What is the sense of security of young people today, and how was it for their mothers twenty-five years ago, when they were born? How are social and individual security related in the lives of young people and parents? Do parents say and do what they really think about having children? What do they tell their children?
Such and similar questions are the focus of our book. In addition to previous macro-level approaches, the research explores the social events of the regime change from the point of view of the individuals/families who live everyday and are really affected by the regime change. The book tries to reveal and analyze the twenty-five-year history of children and their families born at the time of the regime change in a specific geographical environment using various tools of sociology. The approach is not a traditional recall of the past based on memories distorted in one way or another, but instead juxtaposes answers to questions asked in a given moment and life situation and examines them in the perspective of the time that has passed.
