The Aqara U200 Smart Lock is a smart lock set consisting of an outdoor and an indoor unit (or their fittings). The two units communicate wirelessly. The indoor unit that turns the cylinder lock must be installed on the side of the protected space, and the keypad on the outside of the door.

The U200 is a retrofit solution, i.e. it has a design that can be retrofitted, which allows for problem-free installation on existing doors - without the need for major modifications or renovations. Compatible with most European and North American doors, including many types of European cylinders.

The U200 aims to bring the modern keyless lifestyle to a wide range of homeowners and renters, while retaining the ability to use traditional keys. Users can enjoy easy access sharing, remote access control, and real-time lock status updates for added convenience and security. Aqara U200 uses modern technical solutions that provide users with many secure access options. The door can thus be opened from fingerprints (50 patterns), single and repeated PIN codes, remote or local access via mobile applications, voice assistant commands, or Aqara NFC cards.

Aqara is also working on adding HomeKey support to the U200 lock, which will allow iOS users to unlock the door with compatible iPhone and Apple Watch products with a simple touch of a device.

The U200 is one of the first Matter-compatible locks, so it can be a future-proof choice for users. The keypad (outdoor unit) can be operated with 4 AAA batteries or with a fixed 12-24V AC or DC power supply. The indoor unit works with a LI-Ion battery, which can be recharged with a USB Type-C connection under the detachable decorative cover. Thanks to the energy-efficient Thread protocol, the U200 lock offers up to 6 months of battery life (with 8 fingerprint/NFC unlock and lock cycles per day) between each charge. In addition, the wireless keyboard boasts an IPX5 rating and can withstand extreme heat and cold (-18℃ - 66℃), providing a wide range of applications.

As an integral part of the home, the U200 smart lock works effectively with other smart home accessories, allowing users to create a fully automated and personalized smart home experience. For example, with the Aqara app's alarm functions, interactions can be created when the U200 is unlocked by a family member or activate the indoor camera and video doorbell after consecutive unsuccessful attempts to open the door.

The U200 can be paired with the Aqara Home app using Bluetooth or the Aqara Hub M3. Compatibility with third-party Matter-enabled platforms (eg Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant) is expected to be released in waves.

HomeKey unlock support is currently under development and is expected to be available in a later OTA update once the lock has received some certification.
