Ámosz Oz - Hirtelen az forest mélyén

Animals - all kinds of animals - have disappeared from the village, surrounded by mountains and forests and isolated from civilization, for many years. The adults still remember them, from time to time they still hear chirping, bleating, snorting, barking and a thousand kinds of bird songs unknown to children, sometimes by mistake they even scatter crumbs in front of non-existent pigeons or cast nets for long-lost fish. However, the answer to the children's questions about how and why all this could have happened is always silence. First, Nimi, the little boy from Seleburd, goes into the forest to find out the secret, but he comes back infected with "winner's disease", so he can't report what he saw out there. However, his two classmates, Maja and Mati, do not let the mystery rest, so they also set off deep into the forest. After many terrifying and beautiful adventures, they finally meet the dreaded mountain devil, Nahi, who reveals to them the secrets of the past. The children realize: it is not the evil spirit, but the hearts of the people living below that must change so that the animals and with them sincere love without mockery or contempt can move back to the village.
Amos Oz, Israel's most famous writer, has this time written a fairy tale with a magical atmosphere for adults and children. This is an unforgettably painful and beautiful drawing by a great writer about a mystical place where everyone is a prisoner of fear of the unknown, and where they prefer to forget and are taught to forget, instead of trying to regain their former lives.
