Product description
AMD Athlon 3000G 3.50GHz AM4 BOX processor with cooling fan.
AMD also made a new processor at the entry level, which is based on the foundations of the Picasso APU series, i.e. equipped with ZEN+-based processor cores and VEGA-based iGPU. Turbo Boost support is not available in this case, and the two-channel DDR4 memory support also peaks at 2667 MHz, but there was an extra that we didn't really expect. Surprisingly, the Athlon APU working with a 35 W TDP frame comes in a multiplier lock-free configuration, which means that it can be easily tuned, which the factory AMD cooling with a cooling capacity of 65 W probably provides.
According to AMD, it is possible to tune up to 400 MHz, although they admitted that this result requires a high-end cooler rather than a factory one, so it is worth considering whether the tuning is worth the extra investment it requires. By the way, the Athlon 3000G became the first Socket AM4 APU unit that comes in a design without a multiplier lock, which is a serious weapon.
Compatible motherboards with AM4 socket:
- A320 chipset
- B450 chipset
- X470 chipset
