In Alexander Weinstein's thought-provoking stories, the future has already arrived, bringing with it a technological revolution and conflicts that will probably be present in the lives of all of us. The thirteen short stories in the volume examine people in everyday situations: people who seem to always struggle with the changes of the new world and the technological miracles that keep coming, but in the meantime, their biggest enemy is always themselves. We can get a glimpse into the everyday lives of families in a new and tougher than ever economic crisis (Backland), or we can see what the concept of family might mean in the future (Farewell to Yang, The Children of the New World) and what virtual realities can do to the individual (The cartographers, Moxa). In addition to these, we can also read about the impact the refugee issue can have on the lives of entire countries (Vándorlás), and several stories deal with the imminent climate catastrophe (Ice Age, Waterfall).
