1834, Denmark. The eccentric Hans Christian Andersen, who craves world fame, returns home from his trip abroad, but he is not welcomed with open arms. It is not enough that his works are not liked by critics or the public, he is even suspected of brutally murdering a street girl. If he doesn't want to say goodbye to his head, he has to investigate the case. With great difficulty, he manages to win over the victim's sister, who was previously firmly convinced of his guilt, and together they track down the merciless villain. The killer seems to have a morbid interest in the female body and his thirst for blood knows no bounds...
The first joint novel by A. J. Kazinski and Thomas Rydahl is a special crime novel, a creepy "prequel" to Andersen's best-known tale with a tragic ending.
