Its operation

The MC220L is a media converter that converts 1000BASE-SX/LX/LH optics to 1000Base-T copper-based transmission or vice versa. Based on IEEE802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE802.3z 1000Base-SX/LX/LH standards, MC220L is designed to use multimode/single-mode fiber optic cables with LC type connection. It transmits and receives data with a value of 850nm in case of multi-mode and 1310nm in case of single-mode.

Another characteristic of the module is that it can be used as a stand-alone device, but it can also be installed in a 19-inch TP-LINK cabinet, with an auto MDI/MDI-X TX port and front panel status LEDs. The MC220L transmits on the enlarged optical network, which can be extended by up to 550 meters in the case of multi-mode optics, and by 10 kilometers in the case of single-mode optics.
